First-Time Visit at Cornbread Newark – A Great Experience Thanks to Jasmine! I had my first visit to Cornbread in Newark, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, Jasmine and her coworkers were warm and welcoming. What really stood out was Jasmine’s energy and professionalism. She went above and beyond to greet everyone kindly, even taking a moment to wish all the men in line a Happy Father’s Day — a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. Jasmine personally brought my food and drinks to the table, and as I was leaving, she made sure to tell me to have a good day. I also noticed one customer having trouble with the ordering process, and the cashier remained calm and respectful. Jasmine even stepped in to help others at the kiosks, always with a positive attitude. Not once did I see any employee show frustration or rudeness — they were all composed and professional, especially Jasmine. Because of her, I’ll definitely be coming back. Great service makes all the difference!

Here on vacation from Ga. Absolutely the best soul food I’ve had up north. If you’re in the area this place is a must try. Amazing service for the second walk in. Jasmine made me and my family feel at home. Awesome customer service. The manger Sherri made sure everything was handled to the end. We ordered several dishes. Nothing was a miss.

I went to Cornbread Newark for the first time and they did not disappoint. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lively atmosphere, with colourful decor and friendly staff ( Nana, Kira, and Bernice) that made me feel right at home. Their cornbread is a must try moist, flavourful, and perfectly baked. Their crispy chicken, collard greens, and Mac and cheese also did not disappoint. Nana I believe was working the cash she offered us a little taste of the sweet tea and southern twang, it was delicious. When we walked in and started to order we told her that we wanted to dine in but we would not finish and asked to be served in takeout boxes. She said “ I want to give you guys the full experience” they sure did give us an experience we will never forget. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a beautiful restaurant in downtown Newark, the food was delicious I got the turkey wings which were moist, seasoned. The sides were delicious as well and the serving was huge and ended up being my lunch and dinner definitely will be visiting again.

I was THOROUGHLY impressed with this restaurant. The food was on point. If I had one suggestion, it is to add some cheese to the Mac and cheese. It wasn’t as cheesy as I like it but the chicken...stop playin’! Forget Kentucky Fried and get to Cornbread! That chicken was all that! Also, the first thing I look at is how clean everything is inside and outside. There was no evidence of laziness in this place. It was spotless! To me, that always makes the food taste better. Lol. I don’t usually give 5 stars for everything but I had to with this place. I was with a full bus load (60 people) and we were in and out of there and totally full and satisfied in an hour and a half. Thank you Cornbread, you did good! The staff and manager was on point. They were Exceptionally hospitable. The Manager stopped and thanked us for coming...classy!

Kawana and Jasmine provided the best service. The ambiance was very relaxed, peaceful, and clean! The food came out within a reasonable time and it was fresh. Lastly, my family and I traveled here from South Carolina and this soul food made us feel like we were back home. Hands down the best soul food I’ve tasted from up north. Everything was seasoned to perfection!! Chef’s kiss! 10/10 for me.

This place!!! The service started a little shaky. We visited the Monday after Father's Day. With that being said, we were informed they were out of a few items. After the confusion, the service was GREAT. The even opened up and cracked a few jokes. Now the food. It was well worth the confusion. I only wish the collard greens were in stock. The gravy is just right. Would like to visit the other locations.

We were visiting the Newark area and stopped to get something quick before my train arrived. When we walked in we were greeted by the lovely staff. While not a vast menu, the menu items were reminiscent of a Sunday dinner- fried chicken, fried fish, oxtails etc. and a bunch of sides like candied yams, baked Mac and cornbread. The restaurant is absolutely clean from the kitchen to the dining room. The space is inviting and the decor is beautiful. The music is a mix of new and old RNB and everything just made you feel at home. We were served quickly and our food was brought to our table. The food was hot and could tell it was fresh. From the first bite, I thought my mom was back there cooking. Everything tasted so good. Definitely 10/10- would come back. Jenell and the other staff were welcoming.
